Class of 2019 Point/Combo Guards (6 feet and Under)
Here is a look at Missouri’s top Class of 2019 point/combo guards in the 6 feet and under division:
Lamel Robinson 5’10” Park Hill South: The jet quick performer who excels at both backcourt positions with his ability to facilitate the offense as a passer and get buckets with dribble penetration and shooting ability. He’s very dangerous in the transition game. Already has an early offer from Kansas State.
Yuri Collins 5’11” St. Mary’s: The consummate pass-first point guard who goes out of his way to make his teammates look good by dropping dimes. Very strong on the dribble and capable of getting into the lane and has also improved his perimeter jumper. Received offers from SLU, Mizzou and SIUE this summer.
Dre Sorrells 5’10” Grandview: A quick point guard who has established himself as one of the top 3-point scoring threats in the 2019 class. He shot the ball at a torrid clip at the Nike 16U Peach Jam in Augusta in mid-July. Compliments his shooting with his speed and quickness with the ball.
Donyae McCaskill 5’10”: The most athletic point guard in the Class of 2019, McCaskill loves to turn the courner, get downhill and dunk on people. He’s has a number of YouTube highlights of his dunking exploits during his summer activity with Yanders Law. He plays aggressive on both ends of the court.
Desi Williams 5’10” Park Hill South: An excellent pass-first point guard who does a nice job as a facilitator and all-around floor general. He distributes the ball, organizes the team and plays good tone-setting pressure defense. He is very good a dribble penetration and scoring at the rim when the lane is open.
Kevin Jones 5’10” Sikeston: An aggressive young point guard who plays with a lot of pace and intensity. He loves to play the game at full throttle, which is perfect in Sikeston’s up-tempo pressure defensive system. He has improved his 3-point shooting over the past two seasons.
Rodvon Jennings 5’9″ Hogan Prep: An excellent on-ball defender who really sets the tone for the rest of his team to sit down and guard people. Not only is he quick, but he takes extreme pride in picking up opposing ball handlers and dogging them for the entire 94 feet.
Malek Davis 5’10” Cardinal Ritter: A very heady point guard who plays the game with an old-school feel to his game. He has good quickness, but he has the ability to change speeds and direct the game at different tempos. He has a nice pull-up mid-range jumper, plus he can knock down 3-pointers.
Derez Tipler 5’10” East Prairie: An excellent floor leader who plays with a lot of toughness. He’s fearless when it comes to getting to the basket on the drive, but he is also a good perimeter shooter. He is one of the top point guard prospects in Southeast Missouri, regardless of class.
Daylen Dalton 5’6″ Francis Howell: A lightning quick little guard who brings a lot of excitement to the court. He plays at a high rate of speed, but he knows how to keep under control to get his teammates involved. When he isn’t dropping dimes to teammates, has a good float game and can knock down pull up jumpers.
Javaunte Hawkins 5’10” Lee’s Summit North: A very talented offensive player with a very nice shooting touch from 3-point range. He can also set up defenders with a good shot fake and get to the basket or pull up for the mid-range jumper. He’s very solid with the ball.
