Class of 2018 Point/Combo Guards (Over 6 feet)
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2018 point guard/combo guards that are over 6 feet tall.
Courtney Ramey 6’4″ Webster Groves: The Louisville commit had a busy summer for the Ramey-Jets United where he competed well in national and international events. Not only can he score at a high level, but he is also a prolific defender who can also facilitate the offense. Next on his agenda is to try to lead the Statesmen to a repeat Class 5 state championship.
Jordan Lathon 6’4″ Grandview: Injuries curtailed this talented guard during the summer, but Lathon is a bonafide two-way performer who can score, rebound, play excellent defense and make his teammates better. His size, athleticism and high basketball IQ makes him a formidable guard. He has committed to Northwestern.
Ronnie Bell 6’1″ Park Hill: He was a dynamic performer throughout the grassroots season and he picked up a number of Division I offers for his efforts. Bell proved to be an excellent scoring threat as a perimeter shooter and aggressive slasher to the basket. He constantly puts pressure on the defense.
Shaun Williams 6’3″ Hazelwood Central: An excellent scoring threat at Hazelwood Central who stepped up with some big games at the Nike Peach Jam in helping Brad Beal Elite to the Final Four. He has size, good athleticism and he also excels on the defensive end. He recently gave a verbal commitment to Kansas State.
Xavier Rhodes 6’1″ Rockhurst: A slick, slender combo guard who has the uncanny ability to score around the basket. He can maneuver himself in the lane and score on twisting drives at the rim among the trees on a regular basis. He has a nice set of handles and a smooth looking jumper. He has quick hands on defense and will pick you pocket.
Austin Thompson 6’2″ MICDS: A very athletic pass-first point guard who is a high-level defensive player, he emerged as a potent offensive threat with a number of strong performances in July. He really gets downhill to score at the rim and has improved his stroke from 3-point range. Has a Division II offer and interest from several other schools.
Mario Goodrich 6’2″ Lee’s Summit West: A very athletic and dynamic combo guard who has put most of his energy into becoming a top football prospect; and for good reason. He has committed to Nebraska on a football scholarship. He is a factor on the basketball court with his size, athleticism and high motor.
Cameron Van Leer 6’4″ Pacific: A very capable all-around guard who will be entering his fourth year as a starter at Pacific. He has excellent size to go along with the ability to score and play solid defense. He is a tremendous passer who can deliver a lot of no-look dimes that are fun to watch. He also excels on the golf course as well.
Deng Bol 6’2″ Winnetonka: A slender combo guard who can really handle the basketball and get himself to the basket on a consistent basis. Even if the scouting report says to keep him from getting to the basket, he does it anyone. He is also a solid finisher at the rim.
Jadis White 6’1″ Chaminade: A very solid pass-first point guard who does a nice job of getting the ball in the hands of the scorers in an unselfish manner. He can distribute in the half court offense and really run the break. When he call his own number on offense, he is capable of scoring on penetrating drives to the basket.
