Recruiting Report: Jaxon Janke (2018)
Madison guard Jaxon Janke earned himself a well respected football offer already but basketball teams like him too. PHD talked to the Bulldog of Madison.
“Overall, I’d say the experience helped me grow the most this winter,” Jaxon said about his junior season.
“It was a challenge having to transition from always having the ball in my hands to being more of a role player, but it helped me to find other ways to help the team win.”
Madison was a 20 win team and they played in the state title game this year earning the second play trophy. It was a successful year and the run was made with a lot of young players including Jaxon.
The experience playing at state was tremendous, plus it was fuel for getting better as a senior.
“I will always remember playing in the state tournament and how much fun I had playing with the group of guys on the team, Janke told PHD. “I’m hoping to become a more consistent 3-point shooter and to find more ways to score off the dribble. I also want to become a better passer.”
Another way Janke is working to get better is playing with BBA Force. Jaxon’s team was in Kansas City this past weekend playing against some of the best teams in the Midwest.
“There has been a lot of good competition in these events,” Janke told PHD. “They’ve all challenged me to play as hard as I can every game.
“I’ve learned that playing at this level, you don’t see many teams that you’d consider to be easy opponents. At the end of the game it just comes down to who wants it more.”
At some point Janke will have to choose football or basketball and this is a guy that has played for state in both sports. Jaxon will have his choice of some great options.
“I am currently in contact with a lot of schools for football, including South Dakota State, University of South Dakota, and University of North Dakota,” Janke explained.
“I have recently visited SDSU and I am grateful to have received a scholarship from them. I plan on visiting USD as well.
“I visited Dakota State University last year and am in contact with them for basketball still and was informed that they’d be offering a scholarship soon!”
What is Janke’s goals going forwards? Titles of course. That’s what they play for in Madison.
“For the next 12 months my goals are to win championships and get as much college interest as possible.”
