Recruiting Report: Jadon Janke (2018)
Madison guard Jadon Janke knows what it’s like to play in big games. He performed at a high level in football and basketball and college programs have noticed.
Madison was a balanced team that pushed its way to a 20 win season including a pair of wins at the state tournament. Janke may not have been a starter but he was equally as important as the first five on the floor.
“I would say that my confidence is what grew the most throughout the season,” Jadon explained. “I wasn’t a starter for the whole season so I learned how to come in off the bench and give our team the spark that they needed.”
USA Today photoJanke and his teammates were dreaming of a state title but came up a game short. The pain that comes with getting that close is hard to describe but it can be turned into a positive.
“One experience I will never forget is playing in the state championship game,” Janke stated. “We came up short in that game, so I will use that as my motivation to get better and work harder so that we don’t have the same outcome next year.”
How can Janke help his team make that jump with his off-season work?
“I am hoping to improve my leadership skills and become more consistent from the three-point line.”
Janke is competing in AAU basketball with BBA Force this off-season and learning a lot about how to battle from start to finish.
“The competition has been great at these events! We’ve had a lot of close games and games we’ve had to come back from being down so that has taught me how to play through the adversity and to never quit because anything can happen in these games.”
As good as Janke is on the basketball court, he’s even better on the football field. College prospect good in fact. But Jadon could play college hoops as well.
“I plan on playing either basketball or football in college,” Jadon stated. “There’s a lot of schools I’m looking at so it will be a hard decision to make! Some schools are Dakota State, South Dakota State, South Dakota, and North Dakota State.”
What does Janke have in store for his senior year? All he is thinking about is gold.
“My goals for the next 12 months are winning state championships in football, basketball, and track and field!”
