Recruiting Report: Jaden Kleinhesselink (2018)
Sheldon High School went 18-5 last year led by their dynamic duo of juniors. Jaden Kleinhesselink was the playmaker at guard.
Kleinhesselink put up 13.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.0 assists a game for Sheldon shooting nearly 38 percent from the arc and 83 percent from the foul line. Next to him Kyle Boerhave gave his team 14.7 points. They were a tough pair to deal with and experience made Jaden what he was.
“I would say I grew the most becoming a leader throughout the season and just knowing game situations and how to handle them,” Jaden said. “I will always remember when we won the conference championship this past winter.”
So will everyone else on the team, in the school, and in the community. It was a great accomplishment. But with Jaden and Kyle back along with several others the goals are getting bigger.
“I’m working to mostly just improve on my shooting and making my teammates better,” Jaden said. “I would like to increase my vertical and to put on some weight and I would like to become a little faster to help my overall game.”
Both Jaden and Kyle are playing AAU basketball outside of Iowa. Jaden is a playmaker for the South Dakota Attack and AAU basketball has been big in Jaden’s development.
“I have learned a lot of how to finish against taller opponents and how to handle pressure from the faster style of play,” Jaden told PHD.
After last weekend’s Summer Slam event at the Sanford Pentagon the South Dakota Attack is 13-10 heading into their final event next weekend in Kansas City.
College programs have been watching the 6-foot-2 Kleinhesselink and it’s mostly NAIA programs.
“I plan on playing college basketball, right now I’m looking mostly at NAIA schools like Northwestern and Briar Cliff,” Jaden said.
