Recruiting Report: Dylan Penn (2018)
One of the fastest risers in the last few weeks has been Evansville Memorial (IN) guard Dylan Penn. The 6’2 guard has stepped up into another level since our PHI Senior Showcase and has picked up two big offers from Bellarmine and Indianapolis.
Penn has made his move towards the top due to his added size and length to go along with his more aggressive mentality on offense. Always known as a guy that can really shoot the ball and had some length, the growth has given him more confidence and now he is really starting to blossom.
“More comfortable and relaxed as the point guard,” Penn said. “I’m starting to play more in the flow of the game and not forcing things as much as I was. I’m trying to be aggressive but not selfish.”
This is looking like big recruiting battle between GLVC opponents as Bellarmine and Indianapolis have made Penn a priority. He’s starting to get a grasp for what each school presents, even during this busy time of the year.
Bellarmine already has an Evansville Memorial (IN) player on their roster in Adam Eberhard who should be among the best players in their league. Indianapolis has been a tough recruiting battle for Bellarmine and this is shaping up to be another great one. However, they will have competition.
Dylan says that he has quite a few other programs coming after him as well. Schools like Lindenwood (MO), Delta State, Kent State, Ohio Dominican, Florida Southern, and Evansville.
With a class that really lacks that really lacks Division I talent, Penn is the type of kid that has made that late surge and continues to impress more and more each time he plays during July. Many successful recruiting stories have started out just like that and Penn looks like he could be the next one.
