Recruiting report: Damien Daniels (2018)
Damien Daniels made a strong case as one of Kansas City’s premier point guards last saeson, averaging 25 points per game and leading Hogan Prep to the Missouri Class 3 Final Four.
But this offseason, he has taken his game to new heights while playing with KC Run GMC on the Under Armour Association circuit.
A 5’8 left hander, Daniels brings strong leadership qualities to the court, a smooth left handed shooting stroke and the speed and quickness necessary for a smaller point guard to play at a high level. He is a pest on the defensive end, able to disrupt ballhandlers, and at the offensive end, he gets into the paint and to the basket.
“I would say I am like an Isaiah Thomas-type guard, I can score well but I like to get my teammates involved too,” he said.
Daniels said he improved his outside shooting stroke throughout his junior season, which helped open up other aspects of his game. This summer, playing with KC Run GMC has given Daniels a new platform for his game and has started to draw interest from college programs.
“I’ve gotten colleges looking at me and that what I wanted and I want us to win,” Daniels said. “I am playing with great guys and I have had a great experience overall.”
Daniels says he enjoys watching Kenny Felder, Thomas and Tyler Ullis.
“I like watching little guys like that do what they do,” Daniels said.
Daniels does not currently hold any offers, but says he has heard from Air Force, Oakland, Nebraska-Omaha. He has not taken any visits but plans to during the upcoming school year.
