Prospect Spotlight: Aaron Henry (2018)
Every year, there is always one player that makes that jump from being a middle of the road Division I player to becoming one of the top players in the country. For Indiana in 2018, Aaron Henry is that guy. He’s been on a tear the last few weeks with the live periods and has racked up offer resembling a national level recruit.
Henry, a 6’6 wing out of Ben Davis (IN), has been one of the hottest players in the Midwest as he has picked up offers from Butler, Mass, Nebraska, Xavier, Indiana, and UConn in the last month. That is to go along with Clemson, Miami (OH), Evansville, Ball State, and Indiana State along with many others.
Playing for Team Harris 2018, Henry has continued to show all the things that have made him special. He’s been so consistent and a lot of times that goes unnoticed until a certain point. That point is now and he’s really starting to rack up offer after offer. Henry is so efficient, shooting the ball has been his best attribute. Now, his body is stronger than ever and it’s helped a bit with his athleticism as well.
The thing that goes unnoticed along with his consistency is his scoring ability. Because he doesn’t score 25+ points a game doesn’t mean he is outstanding on offense. He’s a guy that doesn’t ever have a bad game and can contribute in so many more areas of the game. He’s become a better rebounder and finisher at the rim. His ability to score 15+ a game and not take over the game trying to do so is huge as you are trying to build a great offensive team and compliments a more ball-heavy guard.
As far as recruiting, Butler has been stepping up as of late with the new coaching staff but look out for Indiana, Clemson, Xavier, UConn, and Nebraska. Indiana has taken a few wings but word is they are still trying to grab more. Henry’s play could fit in nearly any style but the Big East would make a lot of sense.
