Prep Hoops Colorado Recruiting Roundup: June 2
July is about to heat up, and that means plenty of recruiting tidbits should be flying around that state.
We are going to begin keeping track of this flow of information in a weekly recruiting roundup. If you have any information to share about any offers, visits, commitments, etc., please tag us with that information on Twitter at our @prephoopsco handle or email to nick@prephoopscolorado.com.
Here’s our few times for our first roundup of the month:
Foster visits Stanford
Kenny Foster, a 6-4 2019 shooting guard from Smoky Hill at the Colorado Hawks, attended and performed well at the Stanford Elite Camp over the weekend in Palo Alto, Calif. Foster has been on the radar for the Pac-12 school since his freshman season. The Cardinal staff has expressed heavy interest in Foster, whose brother Chase plays for nearby University of San Francisco.
Foster will be leading a Colorado Hawks 16U team into the Adidas Gauntlet Finale in South Carolina during the first live period. The team went 6-2 during Gauntlet play during the spring.
Playing in arguably Colorado’s toughest league, Foster has averaged 18.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 rebounds in his first two high school seasons. Foster currently holds an offer from Air Force.
Cabs nabs first offer
Kyle Cabs, a 6-5 2018 guard/forward at Smoky Hill, picked up his first offer Sunday afternoon, and it came from Chadron State of the D-II Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Cabs, an athletic and versatile defender who can guard multiple positions, has really worked hard to add to his offensive game this offseason, and the work has shown, particularly in his ability to knock down mid-range jumpers with consistency.
D-II offer for Trinh
Tylor Trinh, a 6-0 2018 guard for Monarch and Colorado Chaos, picked an offer recently from D-II Colorado School of Mines. Trinh is a sharpshooting combo guard who is also a high-academic and high-IQ player.
Lewis makes visits
Noah Lewis, a 6-0 2018 guard from Legend High School and the Colorado Cardinals, recently visited Whittier College in California and will take a visit to Emerson College in Boston on July 10. Lewis missed most of his junior season of high school due to injury but had some nice moments this spring with the Cardinals.
Interest grows for Hume
One of the fastest risers in the recruiting ranks in Colorado has been Bodie Hume, the 6-6 small forward out of Sterling. After leading the Tigers to the 3A state championship in March, Hume had a big spring playing for the Colorado Hawks 17U squad and quickly gathered Division I attention.
Hume averaged 15.7 points per game is a junior and was huge in helping his team complete a huge comeback and win the state title. He carried that momentum onto the elite grassroots circuit and he recently impressed the coaching staff at Nebraska Omaha of the Summit League with a standout performance at its elite camp. South Dakota, Air Force, Brown, Montana State and Idaho State also have been showing significant interest.
