PHI Senior Showcase: Mason’s Best Forwards
Continuing our recap of the PHI senior showcase, I take a look at the best five forwards that I saw on the day.
Caleb Brown/6’7/Broad Ripple
I have really liked Brown for a while now and he is even more impressive now. He’s really agile and strong for a forward and he is becoming much more versatile. His jumper looked good and he is becoming a guy who could play up to four spots on the floor if needed. His post moves are still coming along and he looked good down there on this day.
Lucas Lehrman/6’9/FW Dwenger
Lehrman looked the part of a very good small college forward. He’s a little thin and will add weight but he can space the floor and move really well. He is an able defender who really makes it hard on the other team due to his length. Offensively, he showed a lot too and the offers will start to come as we get deeper into July.
Luke Gohmann/6’5/Floyd Central
Gohmann isn’t your prototypical forward but is much more athletic than he looks and really can get to the basket. Probably projects more of a perimeter player but he can throw around weight down low and rebound. One thing I noticed most about him was he isn’t fast but he is quick and that helps him keep defenders off guard.
James Burns/6’6/Lafayette Jefferson
Like I have been saying, Burns was the best player in the gym on the day. He was aggressive and got to the rim, showed a really good jumper, and broke his man off the dribble. Burns played good defense and is super athletic which helps him defend the smaller wings. Look for Burns to have a great summer and carry that momentum over into the winter.
Freeman Brou/6’5/Northeastern
Brou looked a little iffy back in the school season but now he looks much more mature and can defend almost every position on the floor. He is versatile and he showed glimpses of being really, really good at the showcase. His shot looked better than it did but there’s a little more work to be done. It should be a big year for Brou at Northeastern.
