July Preview: Top Available 2018 Shooting Guards, Part II
For members of the 2018 class, a vital time is on the horizon. With July comes the final three live periods of their careers.
It often comes faster than any of them realize. There are sure to be a large number of players in this class deciding on their futures, with colleges aiming to get one last look at some of our guys before they make their calls on who they’ll offer.
Some players in 2018 already hold offers and are on the verge of making their choices. Others are hoping to turn heads with a few big performances. As we approach the start of the first live period on July 12, we are taking a look at the 2018 class, by position, with players who are pursuing college dreams this month.
We continue today with the second part of our look at the top 2018 shooting guards available:
Mozamil Doria, 6-3, Colorado Cardinals
Where he’ll play: Double Pump Summer Tip Off (Anaheim, Calif.), July 12-16; Bigfoot Las Vegas Classic, July 27-30.
Taking stock: The Colorado Cardinals made big strides as a club during the spring, particularly the program’s top 17U squad. That was due in large part to the play of Doria, a long, versatile guard with a knack for scoring. Doria is good in the mid-range, has a nice little back-to-the-basket game and brings good intensity to the defensive end.
Projected level: Division II/III/NAIA/juco.

Mue Muwwakkil, 6-1, Colorado Miners
Where he’ll play: Double Pump (Calif.), July 14-16; Great American Shootout (Dallas), July 20-23; Las Vegas Championship, July 27-30
Taking stock: Mue is a quick and athletic combo guard who can play either backcourt spot. When he’s hitting consistently from the outside, he can be a real weapon offensively. He’s an energy player who can bring strong bursts off the bench, and he displays good toughness on the defensive end. He’s been a mainstay on the Colorado Miners for some time.
Projected level: Division II/III/NAIA/juco.

Daijon Smith, 6-2, The Force
Where he’ll play: Wisconsin NY2LA, July 14-16; West Coast California, July 21-23; Las Vegas Bigfoot, July 27-30.
Taking stock: Smith is a bucket-getter who is coming off a big June with his high school team, Overland. He took a big jump during his junior season, averaging 12 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 36 percent from 3-point range. He’s got a smooth release and uses his shot fake well. He’s got nice length that can really cause problems when he’s engaged defensively.
Projected level: Division II/III/NAIA/juco
Breon Harper, 6-3, Colorado Miners
Where he’ll play: Double Pump (Calif.), July 14-16; Great American Shootout (Dallas), July 20-23; Las Vegas Championship, July 27-30
Taking stock: Harper is a shooter who can get hot in a hurry. He’s also got nice athleticism and length on the defensive end and he can finish with both hands at the rim. He played well in June with George Washington and could turn some heads this month.
Projected level: Division II/III/NAIA/juco
