Breakdown: The Hoosier Shootout afforded us the opportunity to check in on some programs and players that need more attention. Guys like Sam Corrona, Evan Nichols, and Niah Williamson. Corrona has grown in the last year and it has really taken him to another level. Great length on the frame and an active player make him fun to watch. He’s a guy that colleges should be taking a look into. Also like what I saw from Nichols this weekend. Big, strong post who knows his game and plays hard. Doesn’t waste energy or lose you possessions. Williamson was a guy we liked because we saw him play a bit more on the ball. He’s a good off-guard but if he can be capable enough on the ball, at the right level that is going to bring more value.
As far as players we haven’t seen before on the AAU circuit, I really liked Elijah Long. The 5’10 guard really made things go for Lockdown Elite. He was popping threes from the corners and getting out in transition, similar to how his Fort Wayne North team would play. Along with Elijah, Alec Martin stood out. He’s a big guard with handles and a chance to stay on the ball. A guy that might not get many looks being down in Gibson Southern but really can play and is a sleeper heading into the fall.
