Recruiting Report: Lucas Kroft (2019)
Lucas Kroft – 6’4” | SG/SF | North Side High School
2019 Lucas Kroft has really started to prove that he can play at an elite level. He has been playing his summer ball with 1Nation out of Michigan with the Under Armour Association. As a sophomore last year, he averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists with Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian. He is transferring to North Side High School this summer and has been integrating himself into their program.
“Playing with North Side was good, we still have to play together and understand each other’s games.” Lucas knows that with graduating as much talent as the Legends did, there will be a learning period for everyone to know one another’s strengths and weaknesses. They have also been playing in June without Keion Brooks Jr. who is attending elite camps all around the nation as one of the top recruits in the 2019 class.
Kroft has relished in the opportunity to play on the UAA Circuit this summer. “The spring went very well with 1Nation. The tournaments we went to got me a lot of exposure and we played a lot of great talent, which has helped my game a lot.”
Lucas is currently averaging 12 points and 4.3 rebounds per game with 1Nation. He has breakout performances of 22 points against We R1 and 19 points against Wisconsin Playground.
“I have to get faster, stronger, and be able to jump higher. I have to guard anywhere from the point guard to a center so I need to be faster to guard the guards and stronger to guard the bigs. I’ve been working on making my shooting more consistent and finishing at the rim.”
As Lucas improves on his lateral quickness and the quickness of his first step, he will elevate his game to an even higher level.
He most recently received his first offer from Youngstown State University while playing at their Elite Camp. Lucas has been in contact with Holy Cross (MA) basketball program. He will be participating in their Elite Camp and visiting with the coaches next week.
An exciting and blossoming prospect in the Class of 2019 in Indiana. Keep an eye on him in the month of July as 1Nation will be attending the Fab48 in July. He will also be looking to take North Side back to the State Championship in Class 4A.
