Recruiting Report: Ethan Brittain-Watts (2019)
2019 Ethan Brittain-Watts is putting together a strong spring with Spiece Indy Heat 16U EYBL and is also a big reason that they secured the first ever Peach Jam bid for the program at this level. Ethan has shown improvements in his confidence on the offensive end and increased quickness and intensity on the defensive end.
Post Bill Hensley Memorial Run N’ Slam in Fort Wayne, he was pleased with his play but had his mind set on one thing. Nike Peach Jam in July. They were working towards their last EYBL session for the spring and had to play well to earn a bid to the tournament.
“I played well. Didn’t come out with the outcome we wanted but it was good competition to get us ready for qualifying for Peach Jam.”
“What are your goals for the remainder of the summer?” Ethan responded with “Peach Jam. We know we have to take care of business this weekend in order to get there! Try to compete on the highest level, play tough, and get some wins.”
Brittain-Watts has also started appearing on some schools recruiting boards as his play continues to improve. He’s already been on visits to Purdue and Wisconsin and most recently had UCLA in contact with his high school coach. Playing under Coach Delaney and beside Isaiah Thompson has brought out a new level in his game.
“Still grinding for that first offer. Picked up interest from Stanford, still been talking to Purdue, Wisconsin, Arkansas, and New Mexico.”
“I think I’ve done well being a good floor leader trying to make the right play. I want to keep working on having the same aggressive mentality all the time.”
He’s young for the class and is just starting to realize his true potential. He also performs well in the classroom as academics have always been a major part of his life.
As he continues to work on his game, we will see Ethan taking Indy Heat 16U EYBL to the Peach Jam and potentially Culver Academies to State in the coming years. He’s definitely a guard to keep an eye on in the 2019 class.
