Recruiting Report: Cobie Barnes (2019)
Cobie Barnes – 6’5” | W/F | Floyd Central High School
2019 Cobie Barnes is an athletic wing with the ability to also dominate a game scoring in the post. He’s creative off the bounce and has been showing recent improvement in the long ball. Cobie’s offensive game is versatile and dynamic with his ability to score effectively at all three levels.
Cobie plays his high school ball with Floyd Central and is looking to have a big season as an incoming junior. “With Floyd Central, things went really well. We beat every team that we played except for Trinity in Louisville.” He has consistently been scoring in the twenties at team camps and shootouts during June.
With July right around the corner, a big exposure month is coming for the Class of 2019. Cobie gave a quick recap of the spring session with Indiana Elite 2019. “This spring went really well. scored really well, defended well, and made plays with Indiana Elite [2019]”.
This Indiana Elite team is currently undefeated and has been playing at a high level throughout the summer.
Barnes most recently received his first offer from the University of Evansville and is planning on taking a visit there this coming Thursday. He is also scheduled to visit Butler University on Friday.
Since the contact period for the 2019 Class just recently started, Cobie has been hearing from different Division I programs. Indiana University, Indiana State University, Butler University, Clemson University, Purdue University, Xavier University, Belmont University, Nebraska University, IUPUI, Evansville University [Offer], Ohio State University and more.
Indiana University Head Coach Archie Miller, along with a few other programs, have informed Cobie that they will have coaches at all his games come July.
This this amount of exposure around the corner, Barnes is working on his game to continue turning heads. “Just scoring on all levels in any situation and my defense.”
Cobie is a great rebounder from his position and used his athleticism to his advantage. He is also good at starting the fast break with the dribble and then filling the appropriate lane.
When it comes to playing at the next level, Barnes is looking for a program that he would get playing time as well as having a good relationship with the coaching staff. Education is also a crucial piece to Cobie’s future college decision.
Cobie Barnes is just starting to see his hard work pay off but knows that it doesn’t stop now. Keep an eye on the 2019 wing as he looks to continue his strong spring play with a solid month of July.
