Recruiting Report: Brecar Clark (2018)
Brecar Clark is a long and athletic 2018 combo guard who is starting to play to his potential. This spring and summer AAU season, he is running with Arrington Elite and will be finishing out his high school career at New Haven come August.
“I play with Arrington Elite and we’ve had a pretty good summer so far. Took a trip to Dallas a few weeks ago and finished second down there so it’s been going well.” This team has been putting together strong tournaments and winning a lot of games.
“I’ve been playing pretty well. It’s my first time playing with this group of guys and I’m loving it.”
“What I bring to the team is that I can score the ball well and get them fired up in big games.” Brecar is a good shooter from deep and has the strength and athleticism to finish above the rim. He looks natural as a shooter and a slasher. His length and ball handling ability allow him to create open shots and is comfortable shooting off the dribble going either left or right.
One thing that stands out in his game is his defense, both on the ball and off the ball. He has a knack for reading an offense and is very good at shooting the gaps to get deflections and steals. He often takes on the opposing teams best player and takes ownership in shutting him down.
Brecar understands that he has to continue to work on his game outside of playing games to be better in the future. When asked what he is most focused on, Clark responded, “my ball handling and being more consistent with open shots. I also want to keep getting better defensively.”
Clark has all the pieces to be a great player at the next level. “I took some college visits these past few months to Temple and Purdue and they have a nice program and I like there campuses a lot.”
When looking for a program, he has a few things in mind that he would like to see. “I look to come right in as a freshman and make a quick impact, do whatever it takes for my team to win games.”
The 2018 Class has some strong guard talent but Brecar Clark of New Haven is going to be one to keep a close watch on as he will be a key to the Bulldogs success next season.
