Prospect Spotlight: Trayce Jackson-Davis (2019)
With new head coach Archie Miller trying to put IU back on the map with the in-state programs and players, he held his first June Team Camp in Bloomington. Many of the states best were in town this weekend including Center Grove.
For Center Grove, Trayce Jackson–Davis has been on fire this spring with his play. He continued that this weekend in Assembly Hall and walked out on Sunday with an offer from the head coach at Indiana.
This is his fourth in-state offer for Trayce who has three of the big four in Indiana now with Indiana, Butler, Purdue. He also has offers from Xavier, Iowa, and Miami (OH).
Miller is trying to make those in-roads with the state line and this Team Camp was a good first start. Making players like Jackson-Davis a priority could also go a long way into reestablishing Indiana’s grip on Hoosier prospects.
This run of offers isn’t a surprise as he’s been one of the best players on the spring AAU circuit in 2019. His scoring has taken a jump as he’s starting to finish even more efficiently around the rim. His touch with his back to the basket is solid but he’s also been a guy who has shown an improvement with his skill away from the rim.
With his ability to play inside and out, and his pedigree, and the focus he plays with, the run of offers likely won’t stop. He’s a great fit for a lot of programs because of those factors. With July right around the corner, look for more Mid-Major and High-Major programs to take a deeper look at the standout from Center Grove.
