Prospect Spotlight: Luke Gohmann (2018)
One of the better teams we have seen this summer has been that of Floyd Central. The 4A program from down near Louisville has been playing all over the state this month and has really started to flex their muscle. They are loaded with talent and plenty of size including 6’5 wing Luke Gohmann.
Gohmann has been one of the strongest names on the recruiting trail this spring as he looks the part of a big time player. Coaches have loved the body, ball handling, and versatility he provides. His size has really allowed him to play all over the floor from guard to big to wing. He has enough strength that he doesn’t give up much against any player he gets matched up with.
In a lot of ways, he brings the same sort of versatility we saw last year from Grant Smith. A guy that is about 6’5 and skilled enough that he can be any number of things for any number of colleges. He’s not an overly dominant player either so mixing into a role early on should be within reason once he gets to college.
To date, Gohmann has a pair of offers already DII Malone University and NAIA Marian University. Local DII power Bellarmine is also strong on the Floyd Central wing. However, he has been getting a slew of DI interest from programs like American, Lipscomb, and Navy.
This summer he made the switch to play with Pocket City 2018 and has been playing well for the Southern Indiana group. He’ll be back out this July with that team which is full of players that are all around the same level.
