Prep Hoops Show Me Showdown Recap (Class of 2020 Forwards)
Here is a look at some of the top Missouri Class of 2020 forwards from last weekend’s Prep Hoops Show Me Showdown in St. Louis:
Dalton Gayman 6’5″ KC Pacers: The rugged southpaw spent the entire weekend playing basketball’s version of bumper cars. He sought contact at every opportunity whether he was attacking the basket on the drive, posting up in the lane or boxing out for rebounding position. He shot more free throws than any other player in the tournament. It wasn’t close. His combination of skill and toughness made him a very productive player. He also did a nice job handling the ball against pressure when called on.
Cole Miller 6’4″ Arsenal Hoops 15U: A versatile forward who is very skilled a capable of playing on the wing. He posed a matchup problem with his ability to knock down 3-pointers and handle the ball. He works well without the ball and does a nice job finding the open spots.
Cameron Hubbard 6’3″ Missouri Impact: A young athletic power forward who I watched for the first time and was impressed with his high motor and ability to get things done around the basket. He was very active on the boards and he did an excellent job of beating opposing forwards to the basket off the dribble for buckets. I liked how he used his quickness.
Evan Schneider 6’5″ STL Hardwood Hunks 16U: A blue-collar power forward who was playing up at the 16U level and holding his own. He is pretty strong physically and was willing to battle for every rebound around the basket. I liked his toughness and his high motor.
Tanner Thouvenot 6’8″ MO Team Carroll: A big-bodied post player who used his size to great advantage in helping his team to the Final Four of the 15U tournament. Big Tanner was very effective around the basket as he displayed a nice shooting touch. He was aggressive on the boards at both ends.
Sofara Rasas 6’3″ St. Louis Warriors Blue: A long and athletic slashing combo forward who plays with a high motor. He did an excellent job of running the court and getting buckets in transition. He crashed the offensive boards on a regular basis and scored on several putbacks.
