Prep Hoops Show-Me Showdown Recap (Class of 2019 Point/Combo Guards)
Here is a look at some of the top Missouri Class of 2019 point guard/combo guards from last weekend’s Prep Hoops Show-Me Showdown in St. Louis
Winston Quinn 6’2″ Springfield Hawks: A long, thin athlete who did a nice job of handling both guard spots for the 16U champions. Quinn played a very solid floor game with his ability to handle and pass the basketball. He was also a versatile scorer with his 3-point range and his ability to put in on the floor and score on pull up jumpers from 10-12 feet. Had a nice feel for the game.
Donyae McCaskill 6’0″ STL Hardwood Hunks: The most athletic guard in the tournament, McCaskill displayed his explosive leaping ability on several occasions as he attacked the rim and tried to dunk on people at every opportunity. He was very good at going downhill off the pick and roll. McCaskill also made a lot of plays in transition.
Cameron Teson 5’11” MO Team Carroll: A savvy point guard who played with his usual confidence with the ball throughout the weekend. He scored 24 points in his team’s first game in pool play. He made open 3-pointers and did a nice job of attacking the basket off the dribble and making plays. Cameron also dropped several nice dimes to teammates as he set them up for open buckets.
Tayari Goodwin 5’8″ Arsenal Hoops: A pass first point guard with good speed and quickness who also plays with good pace. I liked his ability to make good decisions with the basketball and keep the ball moving, plus he has the ability to make open 3-pointers.
Braeden Combs 6’1″ MO Team Carroll: A big, strong combo guard who is very good with the ball in his hands. He was very good at using his size and strength to beat defenders to the basket and finish with a variety of shots at different angles. His game as an old school feel as he moves at his own pace and manages to get to his spots on the floor.
