Lindenwood University Team Camp Recap (Class of 2019 Point/Combo Guards)
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2019 guards and wings from last weekend’s Lindenwood University Team Camp in St. Charles, MO:
Yuri Collins 5’11” St. Mary’s: The slick-passing point guard enjoyed an excellent weekend at three different team camps, starting at Lindenwood on Friday. In the process, he earned Division I offers from Saint Louis U., SIUE and Missouri. After missing a couple weeks with a toe injury, he was back to provide his excellent ball handling and smooth passing to open teammates. He is strong with the ball and he can always get where he wants to go, which is usually to the basket.
Damien Loyd 5’10” Kirkwood: The quick, penetrating little guard had a very productive day as he was able to cause problems with his ability to get in the lane with consistency. When he did that, he was able to drop dimes to a variety of teammates in the scoring positions, whether in the lane or at the 3-point lane. He also has a nice float game and 3-point shooting range.
Evan Aslesen 6’0″ DeSmet: Combo guard who has the ability to stroke it from 3-point range on a consistent basis. If he gets an open look, he is going to knock it down. Evan has also put in some time on his dribble-drive game to compliment his perimeter shooting ability. That will add a different element to his offensive game.
Mekai Ray 5’8″ McCluer North: A quick little guard who did an excellent job as a facilitator throughout the weekend. He plays with great pace and he is very hard for defenders to keep in front of him with that speed and dribble penetration. When he got to the basket, he dished off several nice dimes to his very athletic wing teammates, who had some great finishes.
James Little 6’0″ Soldan: One half of the standout duo of twins for the Tigers, James is the point guard and floor general of the talented backcourt. He has a solid body with good quickness and some nice handles. James is primarily a facilitator, but he has the ability to score when he has to.
