Lindenwood University Team Camp Recap (Class of 2019 Forwards)
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2019 forwards from last weekend’s Lindenwood University Team Camp in St. Charles, MO:
E.J. Liddell 6’7″ Belleville West: The talented 220-pound power forward led the Maroons to the tournament championship with his all-around game of scoring, rebounding and shot blocking. He is a dynamic performer from 15 feet in as he has strong post moves, a tough drive game and a jumper to match. He is also a high level rebounder who easily led the camp in blocked shots. He has nearly 10 Division I offers and that number will increase as he continues to dominate.
Cyrus Alexander 6’4″ Whitfield: A high energy power forward whose motor never stopped running during the time I watched him play. He is strong and athletic and never backed down from anyone wearing the opposite color uniform. He is an excellent rebounder who was a high producer on the offensive glass.
Moses Opkala 6’7″ Ladue: A big, strong 250-pounder who passes the eye test when he walks into the building. As his career progresses, he continues to develop from a project into a prospect. The two things he can do well is rebound and the defensive end and pass the ball out of double teams. His offensive game is also starting to catch up as he is starting to develop some very effective low post moves around the basket with good finishes. Stay tuned. Big Moses is starting to come around.
Luther Taylor 6’4″ Whitfield: An athletic southpaw forward who can also bring high energy play. He was very active on both ends of the court. He was very good at getting to the basket when able to dribble drive with his left hand. He can also finish around the basket and complete plays with a slam dunk.
Trey Griffey 6’5″ Lafayette: A very solid power forward with a big body and very effective moves around the basket. He gets good position in the low post and has the ability to finish around the basket. He can also step out and pass the ball and knock down the 15 foot jumper off the catch. He also does little things (but very important) well such as setting good screens and blocking out for rebounding position.
