KA-MO Shootout (Team Recaps)
KA-MO Shootout
One of the Kansas City area’s premier team camps featured several Missouri squad squaring off against some of the top teams in Kansas.
Hogan Prep (Mo.): The Rams won the KA-MO large school division, an impressive feat for a Class 3 squad and they enter the upcoming season as one of the favorites in Missouri Class 3. They return a bevy of talented players, including point guard Damien Daniels, wing Rodvon Jennings and 2020 forward Omar Stanley, an up-and-coming interior prospect.
Oak Park (Mo.): Look for Oak Park to take another huge step forward this season after going 19-8 last year under head coach Brennan Scanlon. The Northmen feature one of the state’s premier players in Ochai Agbaji, a 6’3 guard who can put points on the board in bunches. But Oak Park also returns Jhaidyn Richardson, a strong and athletic 6’4 wing player who has taken his game to new heights in the offseason. Oak Park competed at KA-MO without 2018 guard Kaden Evans a talented wing player. With those three together, we look for the Northmen to be a force to reckon with.
Ozark (Mo.): Even without 2018 wing Parker Hanks, the Tigers were a machine throughout most of last weekend’s KA-MO Shootout. They put on one of the better full court presses we have seen this season, and really pass, shoot and move well without the ball. Their best player is Quinn Nelson, a rangy 6’3 shooting guard with a terrific outside shooting stroke and an expanding all-around game.
Rockhurst (Mo.): We look for these guys to make a huge turnaround after finishing below .500 last season . They have one of the premier players in Kansas City returning this season in point guard Xavier Rhodes, a potential high riser in the 2018 class in Missouri. He will team with several guards, including 2018 guard Jake Thompson, as well as an extremely talented 2019 class. The class features size, athleticism, depth and all have some varsity experience. Keep an eye on Dalen Ridgnal, a 6’4 forward who has impressed during both the June high school season and on the spring AAU circuit as well while running with the KC Spurs.
Rolla Bulldogs (Mo.): Rolla has some really nice pieces in place with good guard play, good shooters and a nice inside-outside combination of 6’3 2018 guard Josh Pritchett and 6’6 2018 forward Nick Janke. The Bulldogs have some nice young players who got quality varsity minutes a year ago who appear poised to take another step forward this season and beyond.
