2019 Rankings: Stock Risers
The class of 2019 Prospect Rankings were posted earlier this week and we are impressed with the overall talent in the class. Following the month of July, we will be ready to add many new names to the list but for now, we key in on some of the biggest risers in our newest edition of the rankings. Here are some of the standouts:
- Armaan Franklin (Cathedral) #10
Franklin has become one of the best players in the state this Spring with his emergence as a top end athlete and legit scoring threat. Transfer to Cathedral could make them a legit threat in 4A.
- Brandon Newman (Valparaiso) #19
Newman playing with Spiece has opened up some eyes on him. He’s still more of a raw scorer right now who will need to up his production but he’s one big tournament in July away from being really, really coveted.
- Sam DeVault (Evansville Memorial) #29
DeVault has landed two offers in the last couple weeks and for good reason. At 6’8, his ability to shoot is something that colleges all over the country want. Expanding his game is key but he’s done enough to make a move up the board.
- Logan Carter (Evansville Mater Dei) #38
Carter is a traditional big man with tons of size but a motor that will surprise you if you aren’t paying attention. He’s got a lot of room to grow but he can be dominant with most matchups right now and he’s impressed quite a bit this spring.
- Justin Hensley (Cathedral) #49
Hensley has turned himself from just another guy and into one of the better shooters in the class. With good size on the wing, he’s proven if you feed him, he will knock it down. Has hit upwards of 7 three-pointers in a game this spring.
- Ross Welch (Cathedral) #50
Welch has added some strength and height and looks more and more like a tweener forward that could be a two-way player at the next level. With a big July, he could be ready for another jump if the offense improves.
- Spencer Piercefield (Center Grove) #53
Piercefield has become one of the better scoring guards in the state. He doesn’t have a ton of size but he can really fill it up. He’s been playing well game in and game out and been producing against high level competition.
- Ahmoni Jones (Ind. Pike) #86
Just getting Jones healthy and playing again was huge. He’s a little awkward with his body right now but it looks like a big growth spurt could still be in line for him. A productive player and starting to get his momentum up.
