UAA Indy: Five Top Performers In 2019
This past weekend was great in terms of finding high level talent. With the shoe company circuits in town, it afford us a great opportunity to see those players close up. Here are our Top 5 performers from this past weekend at UAA.
Armaan Franklin – 6’4 | SG | 2019 | Fishers (IN) | G3 Grind 2019 – Franklin has really started to come into his own. The athletic wing was showcasing much more of his athletic ability as well as his improved ball handling ability making a guy that is really tough to stay in front of. He’s much more aggressive now and that is all starting to put him in positions to put up bigger stat lines and be more productive all around.
Paxson Wojcik – 6’5 | SF | 2019 | La Lumiere (IN) | Illinois Wolves 2019 – Paxson is a tall wing with a lean frame that can really create with the ball. Showed off his handles and mobility along the perimeter and was active into the mid-range. Still has some room to grow in those areas and when he does, it should allow him to dig deeper into his scoring ability which looks solid as a shooter just not yet able to do it consistently yet.
Jake Poetzl – 6’4 | SF | 2019 | Marinette (WI) | Wisconsin Playground Warriors 2019 – – Poetzl is a big wing with a tough frame. A little slow at times but he can really shoot the ball. His height and high release make him tough to stop. While he’s not the most athletic kid, he’s still aggressive and was driving a bit in the games we watched. If he can add more to that and be a score at two different levels that could really help his stock.
Luke Bumbalough – 6’0 | PG | 2019 | New Castle (IN) | G3 Grind 2019 – Bumbalough has sprouted up in the last year now about 6’0 and that has really allowed his game to take off. He’s more aggressive searching for his shot. He tends like to shoot more now and he’s letting it rip. Might need to reel things in a bit and balance out his game but he already has more offense than I thought he would at this stage.
Sam DeVault – 6’7 | PF | 2019 | Evansville Memorial (IN) | G3 Grind 2019 – DeVault has started to shoot the ball a little bit better and it has made him really interesting from the wing. He’s not super dynamic yet but for his size he can really stretch the floor. He was shooting it well in the three games we saw this weekend. Once that frame adds strength, he might be able to be more of an impact guy inside to help balance out his game.
