Run-n-Slam: Top 2018 Performers
This past weekend, one of the best events of the Spring got underway with the Bill Hensley Memorial Run-n-Slam. We got to see a ton of the top Midwest talent. We spent a lot of time looking at some teams we had yet to see this spring. With that, here are some of the top players we saw in the class of 2018.
Aaron Henry – 6’6 | SF | 2018 | Ben Davis (IN) | Indiana PROS 2018 – Henry has reshaped his body and that has really seemed to improve his motor. He’s driving more now at the rim and attacking the boards, seemingly because he’s more able to be impactful. Add all that with his stellar shooting ability, he’s a guy on the rise that should demand more offers.
Luke Gohmann – 6’5 | SF | 2018 | Floyd Central (IN) | Pocket City 2018 – Gohmann was a popular name from a look standpoint this weekend. He’s grown a bit and has really kept his ball handling ability tight. Big thing with him is production. If he can be consistent from game to game, he has a chance to draw in some early offers this spring.
Lucas Lehrman – 6’8 | PF | 2018 | Bishop Dwenger (IN) | Indy Heat Red 2018 – The lack of size in the class is easily noticeable but Lehrman could be one that becomes pretty popular. With legit 6’8 frame and strength, his mobility on the low block and vertical could really allow him to be productive as a small school big man. Has times when he looks the part but finding that consistency is key to him taking off.
Cortney Shorter – 6’4 | SF | 2018 | Fort Wayne South (IN) | Indy Heat Red 2018 – Shorter was a guy that really stood out at our Showcase last Fall in Westfield. He’s got bounds of energy and athleticism and the jumper looks solid at times. He’s got a lot going for him and the motor was really solid enough this weekend to spur interest from college coaches. If he adds a little more offense to his game, he could rise this summer.
Dontez Raynor – 6’4 | SF | 2018 | Indianapolis Lighthouse (IN) | Indiana Legends 2018 – Raynor was really impressive this weekend. His size and strength are really nice and he was very aggressive looking to score. His ability to get into the lane and finish strong was the best we saw on Saturday. He’s a guy that could play multiple spots and roles for a few different levels of teams. Should drive interest from a ton of small schools.
