Continue ReadingMinnesota and Penn State’s most recent reported offer was to 6-foot-2 180 pound guard Marcus Zegarowski out of Hamilton, Massachusetts. Zegarowski is hitting nearly 46 percent of his threes in EYBL play.
With an average of 13.9 points, four boards, and three assists a game in the EYBL Marcus Zegarowski has stepped up to expectations playing for Expressions Elite. Most impressive has been the shooting numbers: 20 of 44 at the arc, 17 of 20 at the foul line, and just under 43 percent overall against the EYBL level.
“The EYBL is the toughest AAU circuit in the country so you got to bring it every game,” Marcus told Prep Hoops Sunday night.
“Every team has great players so you have to compete every possession. When we play together and are locked in we are very hard to beat.”
Expressions Elite is 5-3 so far with all loses to good teams by single digits. Marcus really grabbed the attention of the massive amount of college coaches looking on when he sunk a dozen threes in three games last Saturday and Sunday.
“The EYBL has helped the recruiting process significantly allowing me to play in front of many high level coaches,” Marcus said.
“I’m hearing from Rutgers, Boston College, Butler, Penn State, Minnesota, Gonzaga, Old Dominion, and St Josephs, and I get a lot of mail from Creighton.”
Minnesota and Penn State offered Zegarowski Sunday after Marcus had 20 against Bradley Beal Elite including four three-pointers made. The Gophers are a new program on his radar but a program he is quite aware of.
“I actually haven’t heard from them myself, they only contacted my coaches but I know Richard Pitino is a very good coach and I like their play style,” Marcus said.
The Gophers are a school he will consider visiting as the year winds down. Marcus has already tripped to see four programs.
“I’ve visited Boston College, Wisconsin, Marquette, and UMass but I will probably talk with my parents about visiting the schools that recruit me the hardest.”
For now Marcus has a weekend off and then it’s back to EYBL play in Atlanta.
“I hope to make Peach Jam and win Peach Jam and the rest will come with that.”
Marcus has offers from Minnesota, Penn State, UMass, St. Bonaventure, Towson, and Fairleigh Dickinson.
Zegarowski is the younger brother of current Chicago Bull Michael Carter-Williams.
