Recruiting Report: Ahron Ulis (2020)
Marian Catholic 2020 point guard Ahron Ulis is making noise this spring on a talented Meanstreets 15U squad. The younger brother of Phoenix Suns point guard Tyler Ulis has made strides in his game this spring. Ulis runs a team well in the half court making sound decisions with the ball. Not a big time athlete, but he gets where he needs on the floor. He is an above average three point shooter early in the process. Showed throughout the spring he could drill threes at a solid clip.
Ulis chatted with us about his freshman campaign at Marian Catholic.
“It went good. Coming in and playing behind Chase (Adams). I just wanted to get in the game and do what I had to do. I was a freshman so I had to produce on the court so I could stay on the floor. I think I played well coming off the bench. I had a lot of assists this season. I got a couple buckets. With Brandon (Hurt) leaving I took over that spot passing and contributing to the game.”
He is looking forward to next year.
“It is going to be good. It is going to be a good season coming back for sophomore season I know I have to produce more.”
What are the best parts of his game at this stage in his development?
“My strengths are getting in the lane and kicking it out to shooters. Also knocking down shots off the catch.”
DePaul has extended an early scholarship offer to the point guard.
“They watched us my in Virginia and Indianapolis and he said me and DJ (Steward) played really well on the court. He likes how we talk. He said not many 15U teams talk like that. He liked how we communicated on the court and won my games.”
Ulis was pretty pumped about the offer.
“It was very exciting. It was my first offer so I was very excited. DePaul is a real good school. That is D1 it is a blessing.”
