Prospect Spotlight: Quinan Rieves-Garrion (2018)
A 6’4 wing player, Lincoln Prep 2018 Quinan Rieves-Garrion is putting together a solid spring playing for Kansas City-based NDaGym.
An all-around performer Rieves-Garrion can play in the post where he uses his 180-pound frame to his advantage, or on the wing where is can attack the defense. He took his game to new heights for Lincoln Prep this past season as the program featured a new look after losing several seniors to graduation.
“I had to change my role on my high school team from a defensive player that was relied on for taking charges to one of the top scorers,” Rieves-Garrion said. “On my high school team, we had a lot of young and inexperienced players and also a new coaching staff. We started the season off slow but came together at the end and made it to the district championship.”
He says he is focusing on becoming a better all-around performer this spring competing for NDaGym and hopes the hard work pays off.
“What I expect to get out of this summer is just to become a better player and learn how to be a leader so I can be ready for my senior year of basketball,” he says.
A fan of the San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard, Rieves-Garrion says the biggest influence on his basketball career has been Pip Dukes.
“I have been with Coach Pip for three years now and he has developed me into an all-around player,” Rieves-Garrion said. “Going from only being able to play the post to playing all positions on the court.
“I enjoy watching Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs. He takes both sides of the ball seriously and dominate quietly. I try to put that in my game by just playing hard on offense and defense.”
