Mike Brown, a class of 2018 point guard for John Handley High School, has demonstrated those intangibles while at the helm for 17U Erick Green Premiere this spring.
“I’m a point guard. A playmaker,” Said Brown, a native of Winchester, VA. “Try to get everybody else shots. Create for everybody else.”
Brown is a proven winner. He led Handley to a 29-3 record during his junior campaign, and was named All-Area Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year by The Winchester Star. Brown has worked hard in the weight room to become a stronger finisher at the rim, and more explosive. He is continuing to work and expand his game in other areas as well.
Brown led EG Premiere to a huge comeback win over a very good Team Takeover Grey squad.“I need to work on my shot. Be a more consistent knock down shooter,” Brown stated.
At this stage, Brown is receiving mild interest from some division two and three programs. Expect programs at those levels to be all over Brown as his recruitment begins to expand this summer. What can a college program expect from Brown at the next level?
“I’ll be a leader on and off the court, and I can provide a couple points when I need to. I defend and look to create turnovers.”
