Prospect Spotlight: Isaiah Washington (2018)
Kansas City Center 2018 Isaiah Washington is emerging this spring as one of the Kansas City area’s top unheralded players.
A 6’5 forwards, Washington is putting together a strong spring for Kansas City based NDaGym.
He says his game is still a work in progress as he continues to grow as a player. Last year he helped his team put together a 21-7 record and gained confidence in his game.
“Last year was a great growing phase for me I gained a lot of confidence in my game and how I played improved a lot,” Washington said. “We were able to accomplish a district championship which we haven’t achieved for a long time at Center high school.
“I feel like there is a lot ahead. I will be able to grow through all my experiences which. I am already starting to feel like I have grown.”
Washington says his teammates have been the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“They are always pushing me to get better and they motivate me to keep giving it my all every time the ball touches my hand,” he says.
A fan of Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, Washington hopes to implement some elements of his game into his own.
“I enjoy watching him play because people didn’t believe in him at first but now he is one of the best players in the league,” Washington said. “He plays with a chip on his shoulder that pushes him to be the best.”
Washington says he currently has not drawn any interest from any colleges.
