Prospect Spotlight: Bryant Mocaby (2018)
Goddard 2018 guard Bryant Mocaby continues to raise his profile this spring after a strong performance for the Wichita Padres at the Jayhawk Invitationall.
A 6’5 shooting guard, Mocaby can light up the scoreboard shooting from the mid-range, 3-point range and can also put the ball on the floor and get to the basket and finish. Armed with a physical frame, Mocaby is also a standout defender capable of holding his own against elite 2-guards.
Mocaby currently does not have any offers, but has heard from Wichita State, Northern Kentucky, Nebraska Kearney, Abilene Christian, Indiana State, Cornell, UMass-Lowell, UMKC, Dartmouth and several others. He plans on going to a visit at Nebraska Kearney and hopefully more as the summer goes on.
A fan of the San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard, Mocaby is coming off a 10-11 season at Goddard in which he averaged nearly 18 points per game.
“My high school team had a better record than previous years at 10-11,” Mocaby said, “I have been a more aggressive player on the offensive end and have became a better defender since the season has ended.”
Mocaby says his dad dad has been the biggest influence on his basketball career.
“By telling me to not give up,” Mocaby says. “Also saying that nothing in life comes easy and if i want it to go get it but it doesn’t come without work. Todd Alexander has been a basketball mentor since fifth grade.”
This spring, Mocaby has competed for Kansas Pray N Play and the Wichita Padres.
“So far this summer has been great. I also play with the Pray n Play Players on the adidas circuit during the summer,” Mocaby said. “I have became a more aggressive player on the offensive end and I have been able to play in front of more college coaches.”
Mocaby says he is going to focused on improving his ball handling and developing a more aggressive mindset throughout the offseason.
