Prep Hoops Show-Me Showdown Recap (2018 Guards/Wings)
Here are some of the top Missouri Class of 2018 guards and wings from last weekend’s Prep Hoops Show Me Showdown in St. Louis.
R.J. Wright 6’1″ St. Louis Bearcats: The lanky shooting guard was one of the perimeter shooters throughout the weekend. He had a number of games over 20 points as he knock down 3-pointers off the catch with consistency. He moved well without the ball to get open and he also got loose from transition 3-pointers as he helped lead the Bearcats to the 17U championship game.
Darious Thomas 6’0″ St. Louis Shooting Stars: Throughout his career at Fort Zumwalt South, Thomas has been very good at attacking the basket and finishing at the rim. This weekend was no different as Thomas attacked the basket relentlessly and got the results as he got buckets and converted several conventional three-point plays. He really plays well through contact.
Lavell Harris 5’11” St. Louis Bearcats: Harris was the Energizer Bunny of the tournament as he was a defensive whirlwind, whether he was shooting the passing lanes or creating havoc as an on-ball defender. He had the game-winning steal and layup in the Bearcats semifinal victory over the KC Pacers. In the championship game, he scored 12 points as he converted several layups in transition.
Robbie Hanson 6’1″ KC Pacers White: A solid all-around guard who did a nice job knocking down 3-pointers throughout the weekend. He has a good feel for the game as a sure ball handler and passer. He plays hard on both ends and does not make a lot of mistakes on the floor.
Morenke Bettis 6’4″ St. Louis Shooting Stars: Bettis is an unsigned Class of 2017 wing player who displayed an excellent skill set. He is a nice athlete who handles the ball well and can create his own shot on the perimeter. He knocked down several jumpers off the dribble and looked good getting to the rim to get buckets.
