Kansas City Classic Recap: (Class of 2020 Forwards)
Here are some of the top Class of 2020 forwards from last weekend’s Kansas City Classic in Lawrence, KS:
Markell Hood 6’6″ AK Jayhawks: A big bodied wing player who showed his versatile skill set throughout the weekend. He was very comfortable on the perimeter with his ability to score off the bounce or pull up to hit jumpers over smaller defenders. Markell also went into the low post and took advantage of his size to score in the paint.
Jonathan Jackson 6’4″ MoKan Elite 16U: A smooth wing player with size who is playing up with a talented 16U team that won the 17U championship. He has sound fundamentals with good handles and passing ability, plus he can knock down open 3-pointers.
Omar Stanley 6’6″ MoKan Elite: A very active post player with good athleticism and a motor that is running all of the time. He is a tenacious offensive rebounder and he uses his length to block shots. Those are his strengths at this point as his offensive game continues to develop.
Donovan Williams 6’4″ MoKan Elite: An athletic combo forward who constantly made things happen with his energy and overall skill level. He got out on the break and got plenty of buckets as he finished well at the rim. He did a good job of the offensive glass and was also a good slasher on the offensive end.
Reece Williams 6’7″ AK Jayhawks: A very impressive offensive player with an old-school back to the basket post game. He uses his big body to get good position in the post and he can score in a vareity of moves. I really liked his up and under move that he used on several occasions.
Matt Schark 6’3″ Arsenal Hoops 16U: A young combo forward who was playing up with the 16U crew that won the Silver Division championship. He is a solid rebounder, but he does an excellent job shooting the 3-pointer and stretching out the defense.
