Yanders Law 17U
Springfield-based Yanders Law is run by former Missouri State and longtime pro Rob Yanders and is competing this spring and summer in the NY2LA Basketball Association. The league kicked off two weekends ago in Dallas, Texas., then carried continued this past weekend in Minneapolis, Minn/
The 17U team is mostly centered around good guard play, although the addition of 6’7 20217 forward Salisu Yahaya has been critical to the team’s success.
Through session 1, Yanders Law 17U squad is off to a 4-0 start and has several key games upcoming this weekend in Minneapolis, Minn.
17U Roster
Monty Johal, 6’3, G, 2018, Glendale
One of the state’s premier guards, Johal is a gifted playmaker armed with a smooth cross over dribble and the ability to score at all three levels. He is exceptionally tough in the mid-range and can score. in transition, but has taken his 3-point shooting to new heights this spring. He is hearing from numerous Division I programs and his stock has risen over the first two NY2LA Basketball Association sessions.
Donyae McCaskill, 6’2, G, 2019, Kickapoo
He enters his junior at Kickapoo as one of the state’s top guard prospects in the 2019 class. Explosive off the bounce, McCaskill can get to the bucket and finish and also has good court vision. He is averaging 11 points per game through the first four games in the NY2LA Basketball Association.
Jordan Walton, 6’0, PG, 2018, Glendale
Already a three-year starter at Glendale, Walton is a terrific all-around guard with a high basketball IQ and terrific feel for the game. Is tough to contain off the bounce and gets all the way to the basket and finishes, but also has a nice pull-up jumper he uses when help arrives. He is averaging 15 points per game through the first session of play in the NY2LA Basketball Association after four games.
Garrett Freeman, 5’11, PG, 2018, Glendale
Has developed into a knock down shooter, especially out of the corners. Is solid with the ball and doesn’t turn it over or try to do too much. Is a heady player who makes good decisions.

Tyree Appleby, 6’1, PG, 2018, Jacksonville, Ark.
Arkansas product is quickly earning a reputation as one of the better guards in the NY2LA Association and recenety picked up an offer from Cleveland State after a standout performance in the first NY2LA session in Dallas. He was among the Association’s leading scorers, averaging 25.5 points per game.
Ayden Stone, 6’4, PF/C, 2019, Thayer
Small school kid who is coming off a terrific season in Missouri and is playing up an age group with Yanders Law. Gave the squad some solid minutes off the bench in the NY2LA Basketball Association’s first session in Dallas, Texas and has a bright future ahead of him.
Sam Wallin, 6’3, G, 2018, Kickapoo
A strong, physical guard that plays with intensity, Wallin stepped in this weekend and played a key role in Minneapolis as Yanders Law played the tournament shorthanded. He is an aggressive left hander that finds a way to the free throw line.
Salisu Yahaya, 6’7, PF, 2017, Jonesboro, Ark.
Another Arkansas product that is a terrific rebounder and rim protecting big man, but can also step out and knock down perimeter shots.
