Continue ReadingThe 2017 class for North Carolina prospects was not as highly regarded as the 2016 class and the class under the seniors, the 2018 class but overall was a strong class. We take a look at the the top five who will make the biggest impact at their college destination.
Lavar Batts-The former VCU commit who decided on NC State almost a month ago has the chance to go in and battle for the starting position at NC State. With Dennis Smith Jr., declaring for the NBA Draft, Batts will be handed over the reigns of floor general by new Head Coach Kevin Keatts. Batts has the athleticism and the game to play in the ACC and should flourish in Keatts’ offense.
Brandon Huffman-With what many experts are predicting with Tony Bradley’s future and staying in the NBA Draft, Huffman will go into North Carolina with a chance at a starting position at the center position. Huffman had a fine career at Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh and is the top-ranked big man in North Carolina.
Blake Harris-After de-committing from The University of Washington after Lorenzo Romar was let go, Harris chose Missouri and new head coach Cuonzo Martin. He joins perennial top-recruit Michael Porter Jr., at Missouri in a strong recruiting class. Harris was one of the best guards in the state this year and should come into Missouri with having a chance to start as a freshman.
Michael Hueitt-One big problem with the transfer epidemic is not finding the right fit. With Old Dominion and Hueitt, I do not see a better fit than this one. Hueiit is one of the best shooters I have ever been witness to and he will flourish from day one.
Tyler Maye-After one of the most heralded high school careers over the past two seasons as anyone, Maye chose Mike Rhoades and VCU as his college destination. Maye is a high scoring guard who should have the opportunity to come in and get some meaningful minutes as a freshman.
