St. Louis Spring Showcase Recap (Class of 2018 Forwards)
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2018 forwards from last weekend’s St. Louis Spring Showcase:
Colin Braun 6’8″ NETS: A thin post player who just continues to produce and get better the more he plays. Despite being only about 170 pounds, Braun plays with a high motor and with a lot of aggression. He battles hard for every rebound and he does an excellent job of scoring in the low post with both hands. He also scored on several rim runs throughout the weekend. Braun’s size and length also served him well as a shot blocker throughout the tournament.
Luke Lowenstein 6’5″ T.E.M. Select: A thick-bodied post player who gets the job done around the basket in a meat-and-potatoes fashion. Luke does an excellent job of moving his big body around the post to get buckets and offensive put backs. He has a nice shooting touch from out to 12 feet. He is the definition of what a solid low post player is all about. Not a lot of frills, but you get good production.
Derrell Brown 6’3′ SEMO Bulls: The athletic swing player was one of the most explosive players at the tournament. He threw down several dunks in transition and also had some very impressive chase down blocked shots. He played with great activity and a high motor throughout the weekend. On a team without much size, he spent much of his time battling bigger players, but Brown more than held his own. He created his own matchup problems with his ability to put the ball on the floor.
Joey Bender 6’5″ NETS: A solid power forward who put in some good work around the basket throughout the tournament. Bender worked the baseline quite well and finished around the basket with both hands. He was very mobile and aggressive in his pursuits for the basketball.
Zach Summers 6’5″ T.E.M. Select:
