Grassroots: Weekend Team Report
Many of the Missouri-based grassroots programs enjoyed very productive weekends as the new spring/summer basketball season got underway. Here is a recap of what the grassroots teams accomplished:
*The Jets-Ramey United 17U team won the championship in the Platinum Division at the NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish in Milwaukee, WI. The won all five of their games en route to the tournament title. Division I prospects Courtney Ramey (Louisville commit) and Torrence Watson led the way.
*The Bradley Beal Elite 16U team won the championship in the Platinum Division at the NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish in Milwaukee, WI. 2019 Division I prospects Mario McKinney and E.J. Liddell led the way.
*The Bradley Beal Elite 17U advanced to the championship game of the Platinum Division at the NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish in Milwaukee, WI. Five-star 2018 PG Darius Garland had a big tournament as did 2018 forward Jericole Hellems and 6’9″ 2019 prospect Francis Okoro. 2018 forward Joseph Reece also had a breakout weekend.
*The KC Pacers 17U Elite advanced to the championship game and finished second in the Platinum Division at the Prep Hoops Route 66 Kickoff in Oklahoma City. 2018 forward Clay Gayman averaged close to 20 games in the tournament while 2018 guard Diego Bernard, 2018 guard Mason Taylor and long 6’6″ 2018 forward Cecil Lee also had good weekends.
*The Mo Team Carroll 15U team finished 4-1 and won the Gold Division championship at the Prep Hoops Route 66 Kickoff in Oklahoma City.
*The Jets-Ramey United 15U team finished 3-1 and advanced to the Elite Eight in the Platinum Division at the NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish in Milwaukee, WI.
*The Mo Team Carroll 17U Elite team finished 3-2 and won the Platinum Division Consolation Championship at the Prep Hoops Route 66 Kickoff in Oklahoma City.
*The Springfield Hawks 16U team finished with a perfect 3-0 record at the Tulsa Real Deal Tournament in Oklahoma.
*The SEMO Storm 17U team finished with a 3-2 record at the Real Deal in the Rock Tournament in Little Rock, AR.
*The St. Louis Warriors 15U won the championship at the KC Rising Stars Triple Threat Showdown.
