Grassroots Team Preview: SEMO Storm (17U)
Here is a look at the SEMO Storm 17U squad. They are a group of kids from Southeast Missouri that have been together for the better part of three years, which has helped them reach a nice level of success on the grassroots circuit. This year, the Storm will be playing on the Adidas Uprising Gauntlet Series.
17U Roster
Cameron Hester 6’8″ Jackson (2018)
Hayden Sprenkel 6’3″ North County (2018)
Brendan Hardy 6’3″ Farmington (2018)
Desmond Morris 6’3″ Jackson (2019)
Dawson Dohogne 6’4″ Cape Notre Dame (2018)
Payton Salyer 5’9″ Jackson (2019)
Colten Seyer 6’1″ Jackson (2019)
Gavin Harris 6’2″ Jackson (2018)
Carter Dame 6’4″ Jackson (2019)
Drew King 6’4″ Jackson (2018)
Grayson Ward 6’4″ Jackson (2018)
Pete Lake 6’7″ Jackson (2018)
Outlook: This team has a good blend of size and strength on the interior, shooters on the wing and some overall team length. Add in the fact that many of them play together on the same high school team, that bodes well for the sake on continuity. The 6’7″ Lake is an intriguing prospect with his size and skill set on the perimeter. He can knock down 3-pointers and attack the basket on the break. The quartet of Sprenkel, Hardy, Harris and Morris can all knock down shots from the perimeter, plus they have good size as well. Anchoring the inside play are Hester and Dohogne, who are different but equally effective. Hester is a big and rugged who plays like a bull in the china shop in the post while Dohogne is an undersized post player who uses great moves and fundamentals to get the job done.
