Grassroots Team Preview: Ramey-Jets United
The Ramey-Jets United squad will field a talented unit that will compete in the Adidas Uprising Series Gauntlet circuit during the season. Here is a look at their teams:
17U Roster
Telly Wright 5’9″ Hazelwood Central (2018)
Jared Phillips 5’11” Cardinal Ritter (2018)
Deandre Campbell 6’0″ Parkway Central (2018)
Cade Combs 6’4″ Harrisburg (2018)
Courtney Ramey 6’4″ Webster Groves (2018)
Caleb Overall 6’4″ Wentzville Liberty (2018)
Torrence Watson 6’5″ Whitfield (2018)
Jerome Reed 6’6″ Paducah Tilghman, KY (2018)
Yahuza Rasas 6’6″ St. Mary’s (2018)
Gaven Pinkley 6’8″ Hillsboro (2018)
Corey Boyd 6’9″ Genesis Prep, TN (2018)
Outlook: The Jets-Ramey United squad will be led by the dynamic duo of Ramey and Watson, who are bonafide major college prospects on the perimeter. Ramey has already committed to Louisville while Watson has several high-major Division I offers on the table. Watson is a big-time scorer while Ramey is an all-around talent who can score, facilitate, rebound and defend. Joining them in the backcourt trio is the 6’0″ Campbell, a strong combo guard who can facilitate and defend. Newcomers Overall and Combs bring more size and athleticism to the perimeter. The top returning prospect up front is the 6’8″ Pinkley, who enjoyed an excellent summer last year and earned a number of mid-major offers for his efforts. The front line has been beefed up this season with the addition of Rasas, Reed and Boyd. Rasas is a springy 6’6″ power forward who plays with a lot of activity while Boyd should add some frontcourt muscle with his size.
16U Roster
Daylon Dalton 5’5″ Francis Howell (2019)
Malek Davis 5’10” Cardinal Ritter (2019)
Jesse Little 5’11” Soldan (2019)
James Little 6’0″ Soldan (2019)
Jalen White 6’2″ Lutheran North (2019)
Ray Adams 6’2″ Webster Groves (2019)
Marcus Washington 6’3″ Trinity (2019)
Patrick Evans 6’3″ McCluer North (2019)
Keith Randolph 6’5″ Belleville West (2019)
Cyrus Alexander 6’5″ Whitfield (2019)
Trey Jenkins 6’6″ Sikeston (2019)
Outlook: This team is built to play up-tempo basketball with the speed and quickness assembled on the roster. Dalton is one of the smallest point guards in the area, but he keeps the game going at a fast pace as much as possible. Davis is a scoring combo guard with an old-school game. He can knock down mid-range jumpers and 3-pointers alike. The Little twins provide shooting and ball handling while White, Washington and Evans are slashing wing players with good athleticism and high motors. Up front, Randolph provides the muscle and intensity, Alexander can rebound while Jenkins and score inside and block shots.
