Adidas All-American Tournament Recap (Class of 2020 Forwards)
Here is a look at some of the Class of 2020 forwards from last weekend’s Adidas All-American Tournament in St. Louis:
Sada Kalle 6’9″ Gateway:A long athletic Class of 2021 forward from St. Louis Christian who had moments of dominance in the lane. He has a long lively body and he tried to dunk everything when he got his hands on the ball in the lane. He is young and raw and just beginning, but his high motor and athleticism enabled him to be a big factor throughout the tournament.
Cole Miller 6’5″ Arsenal Hoops: A versatile combo forward from St. Mary’s who had a nice 20-point performance against Gateway in bracket play. Miller displayed a nice stroke from 3-point range, plus ability to put the ball on the floor and finish in traffic. He scored on a couple of nice And 1’s through traffic. He’s very skilled and under control.
Daniel Loos 6’6″ Gateway: A rugged power forward from Clarksville, TN who plays with a high motor and a lot of intensity. He works the boards hard on both ends and has a nice shooting touch around the basket. He will also hit a nice mid-range jumper off the catch.
Ryan Kalkbrenner 6’8″ Gateway: Another capable young big fromTrinity who is part of Gateway’s capable and very sizable front line. He’s more of a finesse big at this point, but he has good skill level. Ryan has a nice shooting touch around the basket and he can block shots with his size and good timing. Plus, Mom is 6’4″ and Dad is about 6’9″ so this is going to be a very tall youngster. Watch for him
Matt Schark 6’3″ Arsenal Hoops: A very capable combo forward from Francis Howell who has a nice combination of toughness and finesse. He did a good job of posting up strong and getting buckets in the lane and drawing fouls. Schark can also hurt defenses from the perimeter with his ability to knock down open 3-pointers, especially from the corner.
Darien Smith 6’3″ Gateway: An athletic and powerful combo forward from MICDS who was one of most explosive players in the 15U age group. He had some impressive dunks during the weekend, including one on a low-post drop step and another on the fast break. He can jump over bigger defenders in the post and is developing a nice 12 to 15 footer off the bounce.
