USA National Prep Championships
Prep Hoops took in the action at the 8th Annual USA National Prep Championships in North Myrtle Beach, SC this weekend. Prep Hoops took a look at some Palmetto State teams entered in the event.
York Prep based out of Rock Hill, SC played in the National Signature Bracket of the Tournament. The Patriots played Faith Assembly (Durham, NC) and walked away with a 76-54 victory.
The Patriots led the Lions 35-30 at halftime. The Patriots started the 2nd half with a 15-0 run to take a 50-30 lead at the 10:02 mark.
Sharp shooting Tracus Chisholm (2017) led the way for the Patriots with 25 points while connecting on 7 three pointers. Belmont Abbey College (NC) Head Coach Billy Taylor was front and center watching Chisholm play.
Jaron Williams chipped in with 13 points while DJ Burns added 10 points. Vincent Cole (2017) transferred in last month from James Island HS. Cole added 8 points in the victory. Cole signed with College of Charleston back in the fall.
The Lions coached by Marvin “Rat” Reed were led in scoring by Nathaniel Koko (2017) with 13 points. Malik Frazier (2017) added 12 points and Elbert Ellis (2018) chipped in 10 points.
Koko started the school year at Grace Baptist Academy in Ocean Springs, MS before arriving at Faith Assembly.
Legacy Charter defeated Forest Trail High School 59-51 in the second round game at the USA National Prep Championships.
Nicolas Claxton
James Moore (2017) led the Lions with 16 points and Dontrell Shuler added 11 points. Nicolas Claxton a Georgia signee scored 10 points in the win. Tyrell Mendenhall contributed off the bench with 8 points.
