Against St. Cloud Apollo, Bieganek had 25 points on 11-for-12 shooting from the field along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. Later in the week, against Moorhead, he had 14 points and 11 rebounds for another double-double.
Bieganek sees Brainerd (11-14) as an underdog team that “people should watch out for, because we’re hungry to win,” he said. Add his competitive nature to his size, and you’ve got a good post prospect. You can imagine that those qualities carry over to his other sport, football, as well.
It was a natural question for Northstar Hoops to ask: which sport does Bieganek intend to play in college?
“Well, right now I’m looking at Gustavus or Augsburg if I wanted to play football, and I’m looking at Bethany Lutheran down in Mankato and UW-Superior for some basketball options,” he said. “It would be cool to play basketball in college, but I’m not sure what I want to do yet… I’m going to decide once the season is over and just see how things go.”
Despite a full athletic schedule in the fall and winter, Bieganek has found time to visit all four campuses.
“Everyone was really welcoming and the players were chill,” Bieganek said of all his visits. “The overall feeling at the places were really nice! Each one had something unique about them that I liked.”
