Quick View: WOTN
SPTS member Wear Out the Net (WOTN) has a solid team of south metro talent along with three from Owatonna.
Roster
Pat Bernick of Prior Lake (6-2 shooting guard, 3.5pg)
Owen Blascziek of Lakeville North (6-1 shooting guard, 2.2pg).
Caden Freetly of Farmington (6-5 forward, 8.4pg)
Andrew Jackson of Owatonna (6-6 power forward, 10.7pg).
Cooper Jackson of Lakeville South (5-10 point guard, 7.3pg).
Dalton Kubista of Owatonna (6-4 wing, 19.5pg)
Tyler Lewko of Lakeville North (6-5 power forward, 5pg, 3rb)
Nolan Malo of Owatonna (6-5 small forward, 8pg).
Jon Martens of Minnetonka (6-3 forward, 5pg).
Bryce Phillips of North St. Paul (6-0 point guard, 10pg).
Five Points
- Blake Nichols will not be coaching the 17U squad this year, he will be overseeing the numerous programs that WOTN has all the way down to the 12U level. Andrew Ewing, who coached this group last year, will be with the group once again.
- Martens and Phillips are key pick-ups from Select and Heat respectively. Martens is a hard working defender with a strong build that can guard three positions at times while Phillips is a great addition. Bryce will be the PG for this team and it will give him a chance to show schools and all of Minnesota what he can do as the main playmaker.
- What level of prospect will Dalton be? That’s the question. I would expect him to be considered for a scholarship as well as get high level MIAC interest. Dalton is a talented scorer and he should pair with Phillips to make one of the tougher backcourt combos out there.
- Also from Owatonna are forwards Andrew Jackson and Nolan Malo. Both have quality potential and between them and Kubista is why expectations in Owatonna will be higher than they’ve been in some time.
- My sleepers? I think Tyler Lewko is going to have a huge senior year next to Tyler Wahl at North now that Nathan Reuvers is moving on to Wisconsin. And the guy I’m most interested in seeing is Caden Freetly as I haven’t seen the Tiger worker compete yet.
