Prospect Spotlight: Tyler Holley (2018)
Adam Ayalew
Tyler Holley is often an unsung hero, but he shined bright for Perry Hall on the biggest stage, the Xfinity Center. Holley was an integral factor in his team's first ever state championship victory. Who is Tyler Holley?
"Just your average hustle player, and able to do anything you need me to do on the court," stated Holley, who also starts at quarterback for the Gators Varsity Football Team.
Holley is a native of Suffolk, Virginia, but moved to Baltimore at a young age and grew up there. He's been playing basketball since age 6 or 7, and has really been enjoying it in recent years.
"I definitely believe it’s been my jump shot," Holley replied when asked about the most improved aspect of his game. "I need to work on everything. Ball handling. Jump shot. Attacking the rim. Defense. Just getting better as an overall player."
Holley will be featured on the EYBL with Team Melo this season alongside his high school teammates, Anthony Higgs and LaQuill Hardnett. Amazingly, no schools are recruiting the long and versatile 6-foot-4 guard at the moment.
"Really under the radar," said Holley, a 3.6 student, about his recruitment. He mentioned one thing people often overlook about his game. "Definitely my hustle. Doesn’t really show up on the stat lines, but you have to watch me play to understand."
What can college programs expect from Holley at the next level?
"Just expect me to be the hardest working player on the court. And be any type of role player you need me to be."
