McDonald’s All American POWERADE® Jam Fest: Contest Recap

The McDonald’s All-American game held their annual POWERADE® Jam Fest at Keating Sports Complex in Chicago, Il. Tuesday. The competition included a Stars & Legends skills competition, 3-point shoot-out and Dunk contest. This is a fun exciting event for the fans as well as for the players to have a little fun also as well as showcase their skill. Prep Hoops staff was on hand and here is a recap of the event. Catch the 40^th annual McDonald’s All-American Game Wednesday with the girls’ game at 4:00 PM CST on ESPN2 and the Boys tipping at 6:00 PM CST live from United Center in Chicago, Il and can be seen on ESPN. Skills Competition Contestants had to make a lay-up, free throw, three point shot and then a half-court shot in the fastest time. Winners – 42.8 seconds Quade Green (Philadelphia, Pa) - Kentucky Anastasia Hayes (Murfreesboro, TN) – Tennessee Legend – Jayne Appel – Former Stanford Cardinal standout 3-point Shoot-out Like the NBA 3-point shoot-out formula contestants shot from 5 different spots on the from outside the arc with the player making the most points crowned the winner for the event. The finalist came down to Gary Trent Jr. (Napa, Ca- Duke) MJ Walker (Jonesboro, Ga- Undecided) Trae Young (Norman, Ok -Oklahoma) & Kevin Knox- (Tampa, FL-Undecided) Oklahoma commit Trae Young took the hardware home as the 6’2” point guard out of Norman, OK finished with a high of 19 points in the event, look for Young to put his sharp shooting on display during the game as the PG has a quick release and can pull up from well beyond the arc. SF Kevin Knox finished second with 16. Dunk competition In the final event of the night and the most anticipated the finalist here were Troy Brown Jr. (Las Vegas, NV-Oregon) Jaylen Hands (El, Cajon, CA – UCLA) & Collin Sexton (Mableton, GA- Alabama) Alabama commit Collin Sexton would get a place alongside the likes of Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin & Vince Carter taking the dunk contest crown. His 360-cuff windmill perfect score dunk secured the win. Sexton said of NBA dunkers he is a Russell Westbrook, James Harden like dunker. When preparing for the competition he said wanted to model his style a little after Gerald Green who won the event in 2005.
