Twin Lakes Takes Down Andrean
My pick, atleast, for the sleep team in 3A was Andrean. The trick was they would have to get past Twin Lakes in the first round. That did not happen. Twin Lakes shut that down. Now, Twin Lakes sits in prime position to make a deep run. No one else in their Sectional should cause them issues. It won’t be until Regionals that they should face another test as hard as Andrean.
Dwenger Starting Off On The Right Foot
Dwenger hasn’t had the season that they would have wanted but they know that they can always get hot in March. Well, last night took down Leo in impressive fashion with a 66-30 win. While it doesn’t get easier for them as they now have to face New Haven who is the best team in the Sectional. But, it wouldn’t be shock if they did make it through to Saturday. Good first win, though.
Tipton Pulls The Upset Over Marion
While not many thought Marion would make a run in the state tournament, they were still viewed as the best team in the Sectional. I though Tipton had a legit shot to win and even get through to Regionals and sure enough they proved me right on Tuesday as Alec Weddell knocked in a corner three at the buzzer. They now get Yorktown and then either Delta or Hamilton Heights in the Championship game. Not sure once they get into Regionals that they would be good enough to make any news but they are good enough to win this Sectional.
Owen Valley, Sullivan Pull Through To Semifinals
In the Edgewood Sectional games on Tuesday, it was going to be close and you could have picked Brown County over Sullivan or West Vigo over Owen Valley. Those are what I picked but I knew it would be close games. The fact that they both went the other way just shows you the competitiveness in this particular Sectional. Every team has at least one big time player and now they move on. West Vigo had been so good down the stretch that I thought they would have a shot and Brown County’s size apparently wasn’t enough.
Danville Gets Back To Form Against Park Tudor
Props to Danville. They got the biggest win in 3A on Tuesday night with their defeat of Park Tudor. It will be labeled an upset but honestly, if they play like they did last night and early in the season, they are the better team. Whatever happened to them in the second half of the season, we might never know but if this is real, and they are actually this good, it changes everything and they are a legit State title contender.
Washington Falls To Jasper
So I picked Andrean as my sleeper but Washington was next on my list. They can sure score the ball and they were as hot as anyone heading into the tournament so it was tough to see them lose to Jasper in the opening round. I though they had a legit chance to make it all the way to Regional Finals but Jasper is a good team and now they have that same chance. The Sectional isn’t too difficult and you would likely face Greensburg in the Regional Semifinal. That is a winnable game.
