Class 3 Final Four: All Tournament Team
Northwest Academy made history by winning its first ever state championship. The Hornets defeated Whitfield 78-68 to win its first state championship. Hogan Prep took home the third place trophy with a victory over Mountain Grove.
Here is a look at our Class 3 Final Four All-Tournament Team:
Most Outstanding Player: Jamarr Williams (Northwest Academy) – The 6’6″ 2018 forward put on one of the most impressive displays of offensive rebounding ever seen in a state tournament. Williams grabbed 18 offensive rebounds in the Hornets two victories. Williams had 24 points and 13 rebounds in the state championship game against Whitfield. He also had 24 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in the Hornets’ semifinals victory over Mountain Grove.
The Next Five
Torrence Watson (Whitfield): The 6’5″ 2018 Division I prospect averaged 27.5 p0ints in the Final Four. Watson had 26 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in the state championship game against Northwest. In the semifinals against Hogan Prep, he had 29 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and made a record 18 free throws in a 79-72 victory.
Damien Daniels (Hogan Prep): The 5’8″ 2018 Division I prospect averaged 31 points a game in the Final Four. Daniels had 32 points, three rebounds and four assists in the semifinals loss to Whitfield. He added 30 points, three rebounds and four assists in the victory over Mountain Grove in the third place game. Daniels also shot 50 percent from 3-point range, making seven of 14 from long distance.
Ryan Warren (Northwest Academy): The dynamic 5’7″ 2017 guard averaged 22.5 points in the Hornets two victories in Columbia. Warren had 26 points, three assists and three rebounds in the semifinals against Mountain Grove. In the championship game against Whitfield, Warren rebounded from a scoreless first half to score 17 points and help propel a second-half rally to a state championship.
Cade Coffman (Mountain Grove): The 6’3″ 2018 standout averaged 28 points and shot an excellent percentage in his two games in Columbia. He had 25 points and nine rebounds in the semifinals against Northwest Academy. He followed up with 31 points and seven rebounds in the third-place game against Hogan Prep. In the two games, Coffman was 22 of 28 from the field. Outstanding accuracy.
Amechi Ramsey (Whitfield): The 5’10” 2018 guard was very good over the weekend in averaging 15.5 points a game. He had 17 points, five rebounds and six assists in the championship game against Northwest. Ramsey also had 14 points, three rebounds and three assists against Hogan Prep in the semifinals. He was good in transition and attacking the basket all weekend.
