McKay can shoot the ball out from almost anywhere on the court with ease. His release is quick, and he gets good separation from his defender with his quickness and agility. He can also drive to the hoop to keep defenders guessing.
“I feel like I have a variety to my game,” McKay said. “I can shoot, drive to the hoop and handle the rock.”
McKay is a very good ball handler, which helps him create separation from defenders. But there is one thing that he wants to improve on.
“I do want to improve on my finishing at the rim,” McKay said. “I can drive to the hoop, but would like to work on the finishing.”
As his career has winded down at Edmonds-Woodway, McKay has made it clear that he wants to continue playing basketball at the next level. He says that he’s planning on playing at the next level and that a couple of division three schools are recruiting him hard, and if that doesn’t work out then he will enroll at a junior college.
After four years of playing in the WESCO Conference, he thinks the conference has definitely helped him for the future.
“Competing in WESCO has been great,” McKay said. “It might not be as talented as Metro, but WESCO definitely has a bunch of sleepers who have great potential.”
During his senior season, McKay averaged 19.3 points, 1.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game.
