An high-flying 6’5 forward, Selden has the ability to play high above the rim and has thrown down several highlight worthy slams this season for the Lions. He says he spent much of last offseason focused on improving his all-around game and leadership qualities and has been a part of a deep and talented Lawrence squad this season.
The Lions are currently 12-6 and are ranked No. 9 in the latest Kansas 6A rankings.
“Our team play is really fast paced and my individual play is to just play my role,” Selden said.
Selden said one of his favorite highlights this season was his dunk over an opponent at the Topeka Invitational Tournament.
He says the biggest influence on his basketball career has been his brother Wayne Selden, a former Kansas Jayhawk standout who is now playing for the Iowa Energy of the NBDL.
“My relationship with him effected my life heavily bexcuse i would never had found the love of basketball,” Selden said.
Selden says he is a fan of Bucks’ forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“He is explosive for his size and I Just just try to mirror his game,” Selden said.
Selden currently does not hold any offers and has not yet drawn a lot of college interest, but says he hopes to earn a Division scholarship at some point in the future.
